Ingredients
Serves 2
- 1 cup Rice, long grain
- 2 tbsp Oil

- 2 tsp Jeera (cumin) seeds
Directions
- Rinse the rice until you are able to see the long white grains clearly through the water.
- Let the rice soak in the water for 10 minutes.
- Add oil to a wok or similar and let that heat for a few seconds on medium flame/heat.
- Add cumin seeds and let the seeds crackle a little, just a few seconds until it releases its flavour.
- Now add the basmati rice and the water, cover with a lid and let cook for 10 minutes on medium flame/heat.
- After 10 minutes, turn off the heat and let the rice stay covered for 5 minutes on absolute do-not-touch mode.
- After 5 minutes, take the lid off, mix well so that all the cumin that is at the corners get mixed up with the rice.
- Serve with a pickle or curry.
Tip: Use a long grain basmati rice for best results:)
